Why Did Amazon Reject an ASN For Duplicate Tracking Numbers?
Release Date: 09/16/2025
Version: 8.x and up
Q: An Advanced Ship Notice was sent to Amazon for a shipment sent via UPS and there were two boxes. The order contains two tracking notes with two different tracking numbers. Why did Amazon reject the ASN?
A: Amazon wants a unique tracking number to be associated with each box reported in the ASN. We created a flag specifically for the Amazon requirement in the EDI Profile for the customer.
Field 15 asks if the tracking number is required and if Billing should be prevented when it is missing. It also asks if a tracking number is required for every box, as Amazon requires. A notation states this only applies to a ship via where the Transportation Method is set to U.
When Shipment Verification is performed for an Amazon order for this ship via, the tracking number will be required in the box information.
You can scan the tracking number barcode on the shipping label or manually type the number. A unique number must be entered for each box. The EDI mapping uses the value here to transmit the tracking number on the ASN.
