Inconsistent Error Starting Spooled Report Manager Showing Tutorial Company
Released Date: 08/04/2026
Version: 8.x & up
Q - I frequently print reports from the Spooled Report window
and printed several yesterday but this morning, I keep getting this error when
attempting to print the spooled report that printed yesterday. I usually
print to my pdf printer but I also tried the locally connected printer with the
same message. I confirmed that I am able to print other reports (GL-TB
Summary) to that same pdf printer this morning so it seems to only be related
to printing from the Spooled Reports window. Not sure if you need the file
that it references in this message but it is attached if you do need it.
A - The
folder path F:\ELLIOTT\TUTORIAL\PRINTWIN.DAT looks suspicious. TUTORIAL
implies this the company 00 (tutorial company). Do you have a tutorial
company? If this clue does not help you to figure out the issue, please
speak to our technical support.
Response from the customer as following:
We don’t have a TUTORIAL company but we do have a DEMO
company that is never used. I just tried to print the spooled report
again and Wa-La – it worked! I know I was in the 01 company (live company
file) or it would not have shown the actual listing of reports that have been
spooled. BUT I did just have to spend the last 30 minutes dealing with
another printer issue so perhaps this was a preface of that problem?? I
don’t know but it seems to be working now.
However, is there a concern about why it was directing to
that tutorial file?
Response from Netcellent' s support:
DEMO
is the TUTORIAL company. I think we should remove the “DEMO” company which
resides in the folder F:\ELLIOTT\TUTORIAL. If you feel confident to do
it, please do so. Otherwise, speak to our support.
The
issue is often when you tried to start Spooled Report Manager, which node you
highlight on the left of the navigation. In the following sample screen of Elliott Control Center, the Elliott Business Software is highlighted by default. Since Company 00 is the highest sub node on the left side, hence when try to
start Spooled Report Manager, it thinks you try to manage the company 00
spooled reports. Since company 00 is not used and probably not setup accordingly. Thus it causes the error message.
On the other hand, if you already expanded company 01 node, then when you try to launch spooled report manager, system will target company 01 and works. This is the reason why the error appears to be inconsistent for you.
