Maximum Path & File Length for Sales Order Import

Q - I am experiencing problems with Sales Order Import - it won't process the file. The only thing that has changed is that the new path is 6 characters longer than before. I'm wondering if that extra 6 characters in the server name has pushed me over some type of limit for the length of the resolved directory string?
The F8 key works, and allows me to choose a file that exists in that directory -- but when I attempt to process, I get no results. See sample screen below:
A - Generally speaking, the total length of path + filename in Elliott should be less than 50 characters. We made a special exception to allow sales order import to have a maximum of 70 digits. Looking at your example, the total length of path + file name is over 70 digits. Please shorten your file name or path.

There is also an issue that in many areas of CSV import, the maximum length of file name is 20 digits. This was recently resolved. But in all those areas, the total path and file name max is 50 characters. See KB article below:
