Feature - Improved the Additional Shipper Info for Walmart on the VICS Bill Of Lading

A VICS Bill Of Lading can be printed for Walmart and we provide four specific fields they require on the form: Destination, PO Type, Department, and Must Arrive By Date.  Although the fields are provided, most of the information had to be manually entered.  With the new ESS solution, we can now populate those fields based on the data sent by Walmart on the 850 where Sales Order Import creates Attributes with the information.

To use this feature, you must first switch on the Custom Additional Ship Fields in the EDI Profile.  This is field 11 on screen 4.  We will use WALMRT for the customer number.


The Destination is stored in the COP Ship-To record in the Country field.


The Ship-To Number isn't always an available field, especially if you already have ship-to records established.  Since all truck shipments are within the US, the Country field becomes the logical field to store this value.

The Department Number is stored in the Department Number of the Order Header.  Department Number and Store Number are not original fields in the Order Header and a Global Setup flag must be enabled to activate these fields in COP-Func, Order Header Screen and field 6.


Now the Department Number will appear on the Order Header screen.


You can manually enter the department number or you can map the field in Sales Order Import.

The PO Type and Arrive By Date are stored in Attributes.  These rely on the SPS Attributes that can be generated in System Utilities, System Files Setup, Maintenance, Attribute File, Create, and SPS EDI Attributes.

The PO Type is stored in a Reference with a qualifier of MR.

The Must Arrive By Date is stored in a Dates field with a qualifier of 063.


These two fields can also be mapped in Sales Order Import.

Now when you create a bill of lading for customer WALMRT, the Additional Shipper Info is automatically populated.

These fields are the printed on the bill of lading.

The fields are also available if you need to print them on a shipping label.
