Version: 8.x & Up
Q - One of our users keeps getting this error after making a
change in Customer File Maintenance. See sample screen below:
She was changing the customer from Y to N for Field 19. I
wasn’t able to reproduce the issue on my PC, but can do it on hers after any
change. The message comes after she makes a change and then enters Y at to the
“Do You Wish To Display First Screen ? “ prompt.
A - The
error is caused by Event. When this user changed a customer record, it
triggered an event (probably customer change event or something like that). Elliott tries to launch
“C:\Users\awoods\AppData\Local\Netcelelnt\K\Elliott7\Bin86\EL860EV.Exe” to process
this event. The “K:\ELLIOTT7\DATA\” indicates where the event queue
resides. The message “Access is denied” implies there are some security
issues. Typically, a user should have full access to his/her user profile
folder and subfolder, in this case, it is “C:\Users\awoods\AppData\...”
Why
user awoods does not have full security for this file
C:\Users\awoods\AppData\Local\Netcelelnt\K\Elliott7\Bin86\EL860EV.Exe is a
mystery. I think you can investigate further in this direction to find
the culprit. Maybe the root cause is an anti-virus or something to cause
this. One thing you can do is to delete the entire
C:\Users\awoods\AppData\Local\Netcelelnt folder and try to install Elliott
client to local and try again. If this fixes it and later on it happens again, then I think it's highly likely that this has something to do with the
anti-virus.
The user investigated further and responded as follows:
Unfortunately, I could not find an exact explanation.
First thing we did was disable our antivirus. To do that we had to restart the
PC. Once we were backed up and logged into Elliott, we made the changes and no
error came up.
I re-enabled our antivirus and went through the process
again with no denied message.
I am not sure if the restart of the PC fixed the security
issue or disabling and re-enabling the antivirus. But something along those
lines cleared the user’s problem.
