Use Automatic (Delay Start) if PSQL Engine Does not Start After Server Reboot

Q - There's been a few times recently that, after their server has rebooted (either from patching or just routine maintenance), the PSQL engine did not start automatically.  As a result, Elliott didn't work after that. Namely, the two Pervasive SQL services: "Actian PSQL Relational Engine" and "Actian PSQL Transactional Engine" did not start up; they hung up in "Start Pending" status. In both cases, the reboots happened around 3AM, and the service was still hung when they started work around 8AM. I was able to reboot the server to bring things back up, but it's obviously disruptive for them to come in and have things not work. Is there any way we can troubleshoot this to ensure it doesn't happen again? Thank you!

A - Bring up services and change your "Actian PSQL Relational Engine" and "Actian PSQL Transactional Engine" Startup type from "Automatic" to “Automatic (Delayed Start)” to see if that solves your problem.  See sample screen below:



In PSQL 15, the engine has the name changed to Actian Zen 15. In that case, find the services "Actian Zen Enterprise Server" instead.
