Special Character Not Allowed in Elliott Password

Release Date: 04/26/2022
Version: 7.x & Above

Q - Is there a list of special characters that we cannot use in the password field for user accounts? We are tweaking our password reset utility on our website and just want to make sure we align with your policy to avoid manual intervention on our end.

A - It depends on which password you refer to:

  1. For Elliott user passwords, the only invalid character that’s not allowed is the “$” sign. They are  limited to 10 digits in length.
  2. For eContact passwords, there's no limit on special characters. They are limited to 12 digits in length.
