Release date: 3/25/2026
Version: 8.5 and Higher
Customers have encountered a couple of issues that could not be resolved with explained procedures, like an error 114. When the issue is isolated to one workstation, the Error 114 can be caused by the user’s local profile being refreshed due to certain system-level installation activities. If that is the case, recreating the Elliott shortcut will restore the necessary registry entries in the user profile and resolve the issue. Here's how you can perform this procedure.
Delete Elliott Local Installation
First, remove the shortcut from the desktop by clicking on the icon and hitting the Delete key.
Next, browse to the folder where Elliott is installed on your local computer. For Elliott 8, this will be in C:\users\<username>\AppData\Local, where <username> is your Windows username. The AppData folder might be hidden, so you need to click View at the top of the window and check the "Hidden items" checkbox.
The Local folder should contain a folder named Netcellent.
Highlight the folder and press the Delete key.
Reinstall Elliott Local Copy
Now you can recreate the shortcut. Browse to the Elliott root folder, usually something like M:\Elliott7, and then to the Bin85 or Bin86 folder, and run the install program. For Elliott 8.5 in the Bin85 folder you will run EL850.exe. For Elliott 8.6 in the Bin86 folder you will run EL860.exe. Take the default values on the screen. The shortcut will be recreated on the desktop.
