Legend for SCN Column in Order Inquiry Shipment Verification Window

Release Date: 7/6/2018

Q - In Elliott COP Order Inquiry, you can press F3=Ship Data to bring up the Shipment Verification Window. In this window, under the first column "Scn," I noticed there are three possible type of values: "S", "M" and "P."  See sample screen below:

What do these values represent?

AThe primary purpose of this column is to indicate whether the information is collected from scanning or manually entered in shipment verification. So the possible values are:
                S = Scanned
                M = Manually Entered

The Elliott system does not really know whether the data is processed through a scanner since the scanner data comes into Elliott as “keyboard pass through.”  So what the system does is to assume. If the data we collect is the result of entering UPC code, ETA-13, GTIN type of data in Shipment Verification, we assume it is “Scanned.” Otherwise, we assume it is “Manually Entered.”  Also, you can scan serial numbers directly. So if the input data is a serial number during Shipment Confirmation, we assume that is “Scanned” as well.

This value comes from the following columns in either the CPBOXSHP or the CPBOXHST table, depending on whether the order is posted:
  • CPBOXSHP - CPBOXSHP_SCAN_FLAG
  • CPBOXHST - CPBOXHST_SCAN_FLAG
The “P” value is for exceptions, which can happen in special conditions when the value is not an "S" or "M."
