Feature - Terms Code Extra Misc Charge Calculation to Include Freight & Taxes

Feature - Terms Code Extra Misc Charge Calculation to Include Freight & Taxes

Release Date: 9/21/26
Version: 8.5 and Above

In the past, if a user wanted to charge an additional 3% for credit card payments, the solution was to change the Terms Code field “10. Extra Misc. Charge” to “P” and enter 3%. However, this 3% charge is currently calculated based on the order's total sales amount only. Some users have requested that the 3% calculation also to include the freight amount.

This feature now allows for a new type of terms code extra charge that will calculate the miscellaneous charge amount based on the specified percentage of order total sales amount plus the freight amount and sales tax. This option is available in field 10 of Accounts Receivable-> Maintenance-> Terms Code File.

10. Extra Misc. Charge - This field allows you to add a dollar amount or percent of the invoice to the Miscellaneous Charges in COP billing screen or Sales Desk.  This is usually used for COD charges, Shipping and Handling amounts, Processing fees, Credit Card surcharge, etc.  This Extra charge only applies to the specific Terms Code, (Field 1).  The new option, "T" for percent of order total sale amount plus freight and taxes, is available with this feature.  When entering "T" the system will ask for a percentage and if the amount should always be recalculated. We do not support applying an additional charge percentage to the Misc. Charge, as this would be self-referential.

Note: Depending on your COP Setup “3. Misc. Charge Tax Status” configuration, sales tax calculations may include miscellaneous charges. However, if the Misc. Charge amount depends on Sales Tax, this would create an infinite loop, which is not supported. In this scenario, the Misc. Charges will be calculated first, without including sales tax. The sales tax will then be calculated after the Misc. Charges have been calculated.

This new method of calculating the miscellaneous charges was applied to the following applications:
  1. Order Entry Billing screen
  2. Bill of Lading Maintenance
  3. Sales Order Import
  4. Sales Desk
  5. Recurring Order Billing screen
  6. Shipping Verification
  7. Mass Billing
  8. Mass Billing by CSV
  9. Mass Billing by Shipping Verification
  10. Generate Recurring Order
