Feature - Obsolete Kit Parent When First Component is Obsolete

This feature will allow the user the option to obsolete all kit parents if the first kit component is marked obsolete through Item Master File Maintenance, through the Change Item CSV Import, or through the Mass Obsolete Item application.

A new option has been added to I/M Global Setup Screen 3 - Option 13. Obsolete Kit Par When 1st Kit Comp is Obsoleted? The default value is “N.”   



If this option is set to "Y," the application will change the activity code to "O" for every kit parent for which this component is the first component in the kit structure. The user will be notified that this action has been taken with a message:


If the user changes the activity code for the kit component through the Change Item Import application, a line will print on the report for each parent that has been changed to obsolete. A count of the total number of parents obsoleted will print in the grand total section of the report:



Note: The flag in Global Setup -> Dist -> I/M Global Control, Screen 2:

does not apply to this feature. It is only applicable to the item that’s being obsoleted. It does not apply the kit parents in this project.
