Feature - Auto Delete BOMP Product Structure When Item Obsolete

Feature - Auto Delete BOMP Product Structure When Item Obsolete

Release Date - 3/21/16

This feature will allow the user the option to delete a parent product structure when marking the parent obsolete in Item Master File Maintenance, through the Change Item CSV Import, or through the Mass Obsolete Item application.

A new option has been added to BOMP Global Setup - Option 92. Auto Delete Prod Str When Parent Item Become Obsolete? The default value is “N.”

If this option is set to "Y," the user will be given the option to delete the item's product structure when changing the item activity code to "O" for obsolete.

If the user answers "Y" to the prompt, the application will check for an activity for the parent item in the Inventory Management ATP file. If any activity is found, the user will be presented with an error message and the product structure will not be deleted.

If no error condition is detected, the product structure will be deleted.

This same checking mechanism is used in the Change Item CSV Import and the Mass Obsolete Item applications. During the pre-interface phase of the applications, the user will be notified if any error conditions exist that would prevent the deletion of the product structure. This information is printed on the pre-interface journal.

If the user proceeds with the interface without addressing the issue, the item will still be marked as obsolete but the product structure will not be deleted. A total number of product structures deleted is shown on the report.

New functionality has also been added to the Bill Of Material Maintenance application. When in delete mode, the F2=Del All Components option is available so that the user can delete the entire product structure and not delete each component individually.

If the user presses the F2 key, the application will verify that all of the components in the product structure should be deleted.

If the user answers "N," the components will not be deleted. If the user answers "Y," all components will be deleted. The user will be presented with a message when the components have been deleted.
