Elliott 8.6 to Distribute 4.4 PSQL Entity Framework Client

In Elliott 8.6, we distribute PSQL 4.4 Entity Framework Client for Avalara interface (national sales tax collection). You can expect to see the following DLL file in the Elliott BIN86 folder:

  • Pervasive.Data.SqlClient.Entity.dll

This DLL is version 4.4, which comes with both PSQL 14 and 15. But their revision levels are slightly different. The one we distribute is from PSQL 15.  We provide the following information for our users:

  • If the user is on the PSQL 15 client, then Elliott 8.6 (with Avalara operations) will load this client from the GAC (Global Assembly Cache).
  • If the user is on the PSQL 13 client, then Elliott 8.6 will load this client from the BIN86 folder. The Entity Framework client that comes with PSQL 13 is 4.3 won't work with our Avalara interface. This the reason why we distribute this 4.4 client in the BIIN86 folder to override the 4.3 client that comes with PSQL 13.
  • Based on our in-house testing, PSQL Entity Framework 4.4 client works with the PSQL 13 database engine.  But Actian claims they did not do backward testing of the 4.4 client against the older PSQL 13 server. If you want to eliminate this risk, you should consider upgrading to the PSQL 15 server.
