Do Not Use Extended ASCII Characters
Release Date: 2/15/2019
Q - I've run out of characters for Material Cost Types using what's available directly from the keyboard (numbers, letters, punctuation). Will Elliott properly recognize extended ASCII characters? For example:
ALT+0188 gives me the "ΒΌ" character.
A - We have concerns regarding using extended ASCII characters. In our external discussion with developing teams, we concluded that we want to outlaw extended ASCII characters due to our intention to support UTF-8 in the future. We are not sure if that rule has been implemented in the current system or not, or if it has, how much if it has been implemented. So even if extended ASCII characters work for you now, it is expected that they are going to cause you problems in the future.
