Can the 'Design Your Own Picking Ticket' Feature Print in Pick Sequence?

Q - I use the Design Your Own (DYO) Picking Ticket feature because I need the pick ticket format to be different from the standard pick ticket layout.  When I print the DYO Pick Ticket, it always prints by the line item sequence order instead of the picking sequence. Can I print my DYO Picking Ticket by pick sequence?

A - Yes.  Let me provide just a little bit of background information on this topic.  The standard picking ticket will print in either line item sequence or pick sequence order, depending on how you answer the "9. Print F2 Comments"  parameter. If you answer "Y," then it will have to print by the line item sequence order in consideration of the F2 comment followed by each line item.  If you answer this flag with "N," which is the default, then the system will print pick tickets by the pick sequence.  See sample screen below.

On the other hand, if you turn on "Design Your Own Pick Ticket," you will notice the screen parameter does not prompt for "Print F2 Comments."  See sample screen below.

This is because the DYO Pick Ticket program has the intelligence to know whether or not you pick the F2 Comment as part of your design. The print program scans the layout for the F2 Comment fields, which are:
  • LINE ITEM F2 COMMENT 1  (Calc)
  • LINE ITEM F2 COMMENT 2  (Calc)

If one of these two fields is present on your chosen form layout, then the system automatically assumes you want to print the F2 Comment, and thus prints by line item sequence order.  The absence of this field is the same as setting the "Print F2 Comment" parameter to "N" on the standard pick ticket print sequence.

In your case, the layout of your DYO Pick Ticket must have these two fields.  You can simply eliminate them from your layout, in which case your DYO Pick Ticket will print by the picking sequence.
