Resequence Component Items

Application Overview

When many changes are made to a product structure over a period of time, the sequence numbers of the component items can become disorganized or cluttered.  This will not effect production but could make it difficult to read or make additional changes to the structure.  The Resequence Component Items application allows the user to choose an increment and reassign component sequence numbers for selected parents based on that increment.  For example, if a parent's sequence numbers read 2, 3, 5, 15, 16, 25; the user could select an increment of ten and reset the sequence numbers to 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60.

The application offers the option of purging obsolete components from the product structures being resequenced.  It also allows the user to print a list detailing which components were resequenced along with their old and new sequence numbers.

Note:  Caution should be used when selecting an appropriate increment to eliminate a possible wrap around from sequence number 999 to 1 for the item number range being selected.

Run Instructions

Select Resequence Component Items from the pull down BOMP Processing window.  The following screen will then be displayed:

    Name

    Type and Description

    2.      Ending Parent Item No

    15 alphanumeric characters.

Enter the ending parent item number for the range of parents whose components are to be resequenced.  Defaults to starting parent item.
